We're stoked to share the news of our collaboration with the team at Ben Lomond Alpine Resort, to bring you an unforgettable experience – The Ben Lomond Descent all the way down to Ben Lomond BASE.

In the heart of Ben Lomond National Park, The Ben Lomond Descent is a must-ride for all enthusiasts of mountain biking visiting Tasmania. This iconic 25km ride down Ben Lomond includes the infamous Jacobs Ladder, a six-hairpin gravel road carved into the mountain.

The route takes you through awe-inspiring boulderfields, alpine plateaus, and eucalypt forests, coupled with an adrenaline-pumping 1050 metre descent that showcases the very best of Ben Lomond National Park.

Our partnership with Ben Lomond Alpine Resort now allows Mountain Bike Tasmania to offer tours directly from Ben Lomond BASE at the foothills of the mountain. Join us here for a quick orientation and gear fitting before we load you up into our bus to begin the ascent of the mountain. Once at the top, we’ll ditch the bus, grab your bikes and begin The Descent.

Conveniently located just half an hour from Launceston airport and an hour and a half from the Spirit of Tasmania in Devonport, Ben Lomond BASE provides all the services you need prepare for and recover from your day on the mountain. Most importantly, it’s much-loved cafe is where we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch after the tour!

Our seasoned experts have been riding this route for almost two decades, and tailor each tour to accommodate even entry-level riders, ensuring that everyone can experience the incredible Ben Lomond Descent. For those seeking an extra challenge, we can also provide additional technical sections for more experienced mountain bikers.

North East Tasmanian Multi Day MTB Tour

Multi Day MTB Tours are our speciality, we show best MTB trails that Tasmania has to offer.

Multi Day MTB Tours for groups are increasing in popularity.

Our speciality is showing visiting riders the best that Tassie has to offer.  We handle everything to make your trip hassle free.  Just get yourself and your group to Launceston Airport.  A typical itinerary is below, however, we can customise the locations and daily schedule to suit you.

Day 1

Pickup from Launceston and drive to Hollybank MTB Park to ride the full range of trails finishing with shuttle runs on Juggernaut.  Drive to Derby.

Accommodation at Branxholm Imperial Hotel $50 per person including cooked breakfast.

Day 2

Derby MTB trails including Dam Busters and Krushkas.

Accommodation at Branxholm Imperial Hotel $50 per person including cooked breakfast.

Day 3

Drive to the top of the Blue Tier for the new Blue Tier Descent before lunch at the Weldbrough Hotel.  After lunch, we drive to the top of the Atlas Trail all the way back to Derby.

Accommodation at Branxholm Imperial Hotel $50 per person including cooked breakfast.

Day 4

More Blue Derby action including shuttle runs to Black Stump to ride all the new trails from this point.  4 great new options to choose from.  Upper Flickety Sticks, Black Stump, 23 Stitches and Return to Sender.  Transfer to Launceston Airport mid afternoon for late flights.

Includes.

Transport in Comfortable van/bus with a bike trailer. Mechanical support, bike wash facilities, Guide/driver.  Lunches, We can supply dual suspension bikes for an additional $70 per day(Based on 4-day hire), however, the preferred option is to bring your own bikes.  We use a conventional trailer for airport pickup and then a purpose built bike trailer once the bikes are assembled.

When not on shuttle trails the guide will ride with you to point out all the best trails and alternatives, setting you up for a hassle free experience with a local perspective. Price exclusive of Accommodation/ Breakfast/Evening Meals/ Dual Suspension bike Hire
